WWE star to undergo ACL surgery today

Former WWE Women’s Champion Mickie James is slated to undergo surgery for a torn ACL today (Tuesday, July 16) at the Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in Birmingham, Alabama.

Mickie is expected to be out of action for 7 to 9 months, which gives the timetable of a return to be before for WrestleMania 36 in 2020. Her husband, Nick Aldis, commented on the scheduled surgery by writing the following in a recent post on his official Twitter account:

“Please keep @MickieJames in your thoughts and prayers as she prepares for knee surgery tomorrow morning. She’s a warrior. She’ll be back.”

The injury happened at June 1st WWE live event in Waco, Texas where she suffered a loss to Carmella in a singles match. The contest ended abruptly after James went down.

She confirmed the news when doing an Instagram Live a few days later after she underwent an MRI. We wish the future WWE Hall of Famer a speedy recovery.
