All Out weekend in Chicago just got very interesting.
Sports Illustrated is reporting that CM Punk has been booked for Starrcast III on Saturday, August 31.
“We wanted to bring something unique and that hasn’t been done before at Starrcast,” Conrad Thompson told SI.com. “I’ve always wanted to have Punk at Starrcast but the timing was never right, and I’m really excited that the stars have aligned for this August.”
Thompson added, “Fans are going to get what they’ve wanted for a long time, and that is CM Punk with a live mic. It’s going to happen at Starrcast.”
“Knowing the weekend will be attracting fans from all over the world for AEW, and since I normally only do one signing a year, it’s a great way to maybe meet people that normally I wouldn’t get the chance to otherwise,” said Punk. “Looking forward to meeting everyone there.”
The story points out that Starrcast III is independently run and this does not necessarily mean that Punk will be appearing at All Out but that won’t stop fans from speculating, especially since Punk is friends with Matt Jackson and Tony Khan has said that Punk was the first name he wanted to sign for AEW. Punk’s return to wrestling depends on Punk and AEW would love to have him.
