Reason why the Women’s Tag Team Title match was pulled from WWE SummerSlam

As noted earlier, Vince McMahon is considering adding at least one more match to SummerSlam.  A couple of matches that were planned for the show were taken off. Roman Reigns vs. Daniel Bryan, Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Ali and Aleister Black vs. Sami Zayn were all penciled in for SummerSlam but those matches were pulled from the internal card. As of today, Drew McIntyre vs. Cedric Alexander is still set to be added to the show but it has not been announced yet.

Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that the Women’s Tag Team Championship was going to be defended at SummerSlam but that was also pulled from the pay-per-view and the decision was made for the match to take place on Raw this week.

“The women’s tag team [title match] was put on Raw to give them more time and not to get it lost on the pay-per-view,” Meltzer said.

It comes off a little odd that they decided to give them more time on Raw since Vince McMahon hasn’t shown interest in the titles since they were introduced earlier this year. Bayley said in an interview this week that she believed her team with Sasha Banks would get an opportunity to do more with the belts and that didn’t happen. She also mentioned that The IIconics weren’t given a chance as champions.

We’ll see if Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss are given a chance to add credibility to the titles.
