WWE NXT star Kavita Devi, the first female professional wrestler in WWE of Indian nationality, will undergo ACL surgery. The news was first reported by Squared Circle Sirens.
Devi will undergo surgery for the torn ACL on August 15. That type of injury usually means several months of recovery so it likely means that she won’t be cleared until 2020.
Devi was first introduced to WWE fans when she competed in the first Mae Young Classic. She lost to Dakota Kai and was signed shortly thereafter.
She was also in the WrestleMania 34 women’s battle royal and wrestled in the second Mae Young Classic in 2018 where she lost to Kaitlyn. Part of the reason why Devi was signed is because of WWE’s efforts to increase the visibility of their product in India.
Devi’s most recent tweet was on July 29 and she seemed fine so the injury must have happened sometime in the last 10 days.
We wish her the best on a speedy and complete recovery.
