Rusev has reacted to questions from fans regarding his WWE status and return.
It all started when Rusev was asked if he was going to have an “awesome new hair cut” when he returns on this week’s SmackDown. He wrote, “I actually do!,” and then “How long can you hold your breath ?!?!?” to another fan.
Obviously, he didn’t return on Tuesday’s show. He also reacted to another tweet that stated he and wife Lana “are currently on a break from WWE, and aren’t sure what their next step is going to be.”
Rusev replied, “Oh i know what my next step is.” You can see the tweets here:

He most recently worked the 50-Man Battle Royal at the WWE Super ShowDown pay-per-view event in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium. Also, he’s only appeared on a handful of live events since WrestleMania 35.
Dave Meltzer reported in a June edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Rusev was away from WWE after requesting time off.
As of this writing, there’s no word yet on when he’ll be back but the situation was described as likely just a short hiatus from the company.
