WWE is not mad about Matt Riddle taking shots at Goldberg

The idea of a Goldberg vs. Matt Riddle match down the line might not seem so far fetched.

In a recent Instagram post, Riddle said he found a note in his locker that said: “Whenever I want, you’re next!” The note, according to Riddle, was signed by Goldberg and it also said “Not your bro.”

The “Not your bro” is what Riddle says Goldberg said to him backstage on Sunday at SummerSlam in Toronto.

Whether or not this will lead to a match, Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer that the posts about Goldberg are approved (and maybe encouraged) by WWE management because if they weren’t then they would have told him to stop. Meltzer noted that the posts are just a way for him to get attention.

Riddle has also been saying things about Brock Lesnar and has said in many interviews that he would like to retire him at WrestleMania. Riddle noted on Sunday that he did not have a confrontation with Lesnar.

Meltzer noted last week that as long as Paul Heyman is the Executive Director, Goldberg would be someone he would bring in a role similar to Bruno Sammartino in his later years where fans would only see him occasionally and he would be kept strong. Goldberg and Heyman are very good friends so we probably haven’t seen the last of Goldberg in a WWE ring.
