The rumors about NXT’s big move to the USA Network were confirmed today via an update by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer website.
Meltzer has confirmed that NXT will start on the USA Network on Wednesday, September 18. That would be two weeks before AEW starts on TNT.
Despite what people in the company will say publicly, this is being done as counterprogramming to AEW’s show on TNT and they wanted to launch NXT before October 2nd so they could get the jump on them.
As part of the move to USA, NXT will expand to two hours from 8 to 10 pm eastern. It’s unknown if they will go live every week or every other week. There are many questions that will be answered in the coming weeks. One big question is whether or not Vince McMahon will decide to be hands-on with the show and if the format will change from what they were doing on the WWE Network. Another thing fans should expect to see on the show is talent from Raw and SmackDown Live, especially if AEW beats NXT in the ratings.
Needless to say, there are major changes happening in the wrestling business. The NXT to USA move will be announced by WWE tonight on Monday Night Raw.
