Ember Moon revealed spoke about her Achilles tear on WWE Backstage in November but she hasn’t said anything about how she was injured until this week.
During Booker T’s “Hall Of Fame” podcast, she revealed that her Achilles rupture did not happen in the ring. In fact, it happened during a WWE 24/7 Championship segment where she was asked to chase Carmella.
“I know this is gonna hit the dirt sheets,” Moon said. “So we were in San Francisco for a Raw and a SmackDown.” She said she was called to be at Raw a day before so she could put over Lacey Evans and then she had to fly out for SmackDown when the show was still on Tuesday nights.
She continued, “I made it to the hotel and getting ready to do SmackDown the next day and they were like, ‘Hey, Ember, you’re in the 24/7 title run because Carmella won the night before’. I was like, ‘Ah, Y’all sure y’all need me for that?’ You know what’s weird is like when you know you have a bad feeling about something? … So I had a feeling and I was like ‘oooh, do we? ok cool.’ You know what, I’m a team player, screw it, I got this, I’m in.”
“So we do the run through and I told R-Truth – I was like, ‘Truth, you better run, I’m gonna catch you Truth. If I catch you, I’m tackling you and you’re going down.’ And so when we actually did it, I almost literally caught them right before we went through the curtain. So they go through the curtain and they didn’t realize how close I was behind them. So we go through the curtain and as I’m coming through, the curtain shuts, I open it and go through. Truth is dropping Carmella and I have to hit – I’m going full speed and I had to hit the brakes. I was like, ‘whoah,’ boom, and I felt a pop. It felt like a scratch. Literally, I was like ‘huh, that feels weird.'”
Moon said she made it back to her home in Dallas and she had no idea how bad her injury was at the time. She didn’t have bruising and swelling or any pain but she noticed that her foot felt weird. It was hours later that she realized something was wrong because she fell down and couldn’t put weight on her foot.
She also said that she has spoken with Beth Phoenix and Edge has offered his support if she needs it.
She also talked about her journey to WWE, her time on the independent scene, and much more. You can listen to her talk about her injury around the 19:00 mark in the video below.
