Tony Khan comments on AEW Dynamite Anniversary show ratings success

AEW President & CEO Tony Khan took to his official Twitter account where he thanked fans for the ratings success of the Dynamite Anniversary episode on TNT on Wednesday night.

Khan wrote the following:

“Thanks to all who made last night’s #AEW one-year anniversary episode of Dynamite a ratings success! For all of us to keep succeeding, AEW will listen to our fans. I hear your feedback & won’t ignore what you want to see from AEW every week! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!”

As noted, AEW Dynamite on TNT in Southaven, MS at the Landers Center was watched by 947,000 viewers, down from 967,000 the previous week. They beat WWE NXT on the USA Network, which averaged 721,000 viewers, up from 548,000 last week.

While the television numbers were good, the live attendance wasn’t as Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the show drew 3,100 fans, the lowest to date.

Meltzer noted that “the promotion locally of using the Memphis stars did help the walk up or it would have been worse.”

The belief is that AEW got off to a bad start because WWE aired an episode of SmackDown a few days before and tickets for that show went on sale first.
