La Parka, real name Jesus Alfonso Huerta Escoboza, has passed away at the age of 55. In November, during a match with Rush, he broke his neck after doing a dive through the ropes and he never recovered from the injuries. The dive did not go as planned because his feet got caught in the ropes.
Huerta should not be confused with the La Parka that wrestled in WCW. The WCW La Parka became L.A. Park years later. Huerta is La Parka II and has been wrestling since 1987. He joined the AAA promotion in 1995.
Eventually, he was simply known as La Parka and headlined several TripleMania shows from 2003 to 2010 while becoming one of the biggest stars in the history of the promotion.
Lucha Blog is reporting that at the time of his injuries, the belief among people close to the situation was that he would not last through the night. He continued fighting for two more months. We send our condolences to his family and friends.
