Former WWE Champion CM Punk made an appearance on Tuesday’s episode of WWE Backstage on FOX Sports 1.
During the show, Punk, Paige, and Christian revealed who they think should win the 30-Man and 30-Woman Royal Rumble Matches this coming Sunday night from Minute Maid Park in Houston, TX.
This is where Punk praised WWE NXT Superstar Keith Lee by saying that he should win the men’s match as he’s been impressed by Lee. He linked back to Lee’s shining performance at the 2019 Survivor Series pay-per-view.
Punk also talked about his belief that WWE needs to follow up on that because it already feels like it’s been two years since Lee had his big moment with Roman Reigns. Punk added that Lee needs to win this bout by eliminating Brock Lesnar.
It should be noted that WWE has yet to confirm whether NXT stars will be working these matches.
Lee saw the praise by Punk and took to his official Twitter account where he wrote the following:
“Hmm….should I ever have the privilege of meeting Mr. Punk, I shall be certain to express my gratitude. The sentiment is most appreciated.”
