NJPW star in “high level talks” with AEW

It looks like a New Japan Pro Wrestling star could be on his way to All Elite Wrestling.

Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso is reporting that Lance Archer is in “high-level talks” with AEW. Archer still wrestles for New Japan Pro Wrestling but he does not have a contract with them and that is why he is able to negotiate with AEW.

Archer has been wresting as a singles star since his tag team partner Davey Boy Smith left the company last June. Archer won the IWGP Intercontinental Championship on October 14 after the title was vacated by Jon Moxley due to travel issues. Archer lost the title to Moxley at Wrestle Kingdom 14 in Tokyo, Japan. Archer is scheduled for NJPW’s New Beginning USA tour from 1/24 through 2/1.

Aside from his NJPW run, many fans would remember Archer from his time in Impact Wrestling as Lance Hoyt. He has been getting a ton of praise from people in the business for reinventing himself and becoming a better wrestler and character over the past couple of years.
