WWE NXT star sidelined with injury for two months

WWE released their weekly NXT Injury Report earlier this week that listed Io Shirai.

It was noted in the report that she “tweaked her knee” during her match against Toni Storm on Wednesday’s episode of NXT. She also got into a brawl after the match with NXT Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair.

As a result, Shirai was sent for a precautionary MRI where her status was listed as “day to day.” Typically, these injury reports are pure storyline.

However, Shirai shared a photo on her official Twitter account of a knee brace that indicated that she suffered a real injury.

The latest update came from Dave Meltzer on Wrestler Observer Radio who noted that while the exact injury is unknown, Shirai is expected to be out for two months.
