Mark Hildreth, known to wrestling fans as former WCW star “Heavy Metal” Van Hammer, has been charged with DUI after striking a 5-year-old boy on a bike, according to the Palm Beach Post.
The Post notes that the boy was on a bicycle with training wheels when he was struck by a car on Sunday afternoon that was being driven by Hildreth.
Police allege that Hildreth was speeding and drunk at the time of the incident and they say he left the scene. He is charged with leaving the scene of an injury crash and DUI.
According to the police report, the boy was thrown atop the hood of the car. The boy was taken to the hospital with internal injuries and “road rash.” Thankfully, according to police, the injuries are not life threatening.
