Vince McMahon once asked Chris Jericho if he could get out of his AEW contract

AEW World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho spoke about how WWE CEO and Chairman Vince McMahon reacted to him signing with AEW during an episode of Talk Is Jericho

Jericho stated he didn’t sign with AEW to be a rebel. Instead, it was because McMahon told him to go.

Jericho stated on the podcast that he had a conversation with McMahon after he had already signed with the promotion. According to the AEW World Champion, McMahon wanted to know if he could get out of the deal, which is quite humorous.

“I’m not in AEW because I was a rebel,” Jericho admitted. “I’m with AEW because Vince went, ‘go.’ And then, when I went, he went, ‘did you sign the contract?’ I said, ‘well, yeah.’ He said, ‘can you get out of it?’ ‘No! You told me to sign it!'”

Jericho brought up how McMahon could have prevented him from signing with AEW just like he had the chance to stop stars such as Scott Hall and Kevin Nash from leaving WWE in 1996 to join WCW.

Jericho thought it was interesting that McMahon made the same mistake nearly 25 years later. H/T to Wrestling Inc for the transcription
