First look at the Ruthless Aggression documentary premiering on the WWE Network

It looks like WWE has told every story there was to be told about the Attitude Era so now they are moving on to the Ruthless Aggression Era.

It was during the Ruthless Aggression Era that they lost two of the biggest stars in the company, Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock. This was also when they decided to split up the brands and to create two world titles.

Despite some of the speed bumps along the way, this era is when several names rose up the ranks to become major stars including John Cena, Randy Orton, Brock Lesnar, Batista and many others. It was a time when the popularity of the product began to decline after the peak from the Attitude Era and Vince McMahon was trying different things to heat the product back up.

Many would argue that the early years of the Ruthless Aggression Era had the most stacked roster in history with a mix of top talent that came over from WCW and established stars that were still around from the late 90s but, at times, there were things done on shows that turned people off as McMahon seemed to look towards more shock value in an attempt to boost ratings. This was the era that featured the Katie Vick Angle and the infamous HLA segment but also had really good moments like the return of Shawn Michaels after his career was thought to be over in 1998. It will be interesting to see how this era is portrayed in the documentary.

WWE Ruthless Aggression premieres on Sunday, February 16 after NXT TakeOver: Portland. Check out the trailer below.
