WWE held its WrestleMania 37 press conference earlier today at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California and some of the company’s top names were there to speak with the media.
Here’s what Reigns told Fernando Ramierez from the San Diego NBC affiliate:
“I said it earlier, man. If there’s a stadium … hey, DJ, check it out. Not bad, I mean… Everyone’s always dream matching me and him. First of all, we’re family so it’s all love but if there was gonna be an event for him to compete in, to perform in, a venue to hold that mass-scale of attention that he’s gonna bring, it’s right here in your backyard. You know what I mean? You ain’t gotta go far.”
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson vs. Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 37 is guaranteed to do gigantic business for WWE but The Rock did say last August that he has quietly retired from professional wrestling.
“I miss wrestling, I love wrestling,” Johnson said on The Kelly and Ryan Show. “I quietly retired from wrestling because I was lucky enough to have just a really wonderful career and accomplish what I wanted to accomplish.”
The old saying in pro wrestling is “never say never” so you would have to assume that he would be open to at least one more match with family. Rock’s daughter is now signed with WWE so there’s always a chance that he will get the itch to team up with her one time as well.
