Goldberg: “My match with Undertaker was the perfect storm with no good”

With his next match in the country looming, Goldberg has looked back on his disappointing match against The Undertaker.

The WWE Hall of Famer did an interview on the Total Slam podcast where he spoke about his loss to “The Deadman” at the WWE Super ShowDown pay-per-view event in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium last year.

This is where Goldberg suffered a concussion early in the match. After a strong start, it was all downhill from there.

“My match with Taker was the perfect storm with no good. At the end of the day, I was not in the ring for two years. It was 150 degrees. Undertaker and I never worked together before.”

Goldberg brought up how his character is based on realism and intensity. There are times where he forgets that he’s older now and his body isn’t the same. However, it was a spot [spear into the corner] that over the years he has knocked himself out at times.

The reason for that is due to him refusing to do something that doesn’t look real. Instead, if he’s going to do something then it’s going to be at 100 percent. Thus, if he knocks himself out then so be it.

“I had to deal with it and it was only my fault because I went too hard. You can’t fault me for it because I wanted to give the best show possible, I wanted to make my family and fans proud. I wanted to complete a dream of my and have a good match with Taker, but it doesn’t always turn out the way you want and unfortunately it was on TV.

Everybody in the world saw it… but hey, what match defies a human being? For two weeks I felt bad about it, and I think Taker and I should get a pat on the back for putting ourselves out there at our age and doing the things that we do to entertain the people.”

Many WWE stars came to the defense of the two legendary stars after the negative feedback that they have received from fans.

Now, Goldberg will have a chance to write the wrongs of that match when he challenges Universal Champion Bray Wyatt this Thursday. You can watch the entire interview here.
