Texas commission takes away Tito Ortiz’s win over Alberto Del Rio, fight ruled a no-decision for now

In an interesting turn of events, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation has taken away Tito Ortiz’s win over Alberto Del Rio (Alberto Rodriguez) from their December fight at the Combate Americas pay-per-view.

MMA Junkie is reporting that the result of the fight has been changed to a no-decision with a state official saying that the result is “pending a further investigation.” There is no word on what is being investigated but it’s possible that if Ortiz was found to have done nothing wrong then his win will be given back to him.

MMA Junkie says the promotion was made aware of the decision on Tuesday. Combate Americas CEO Campbel McLaren, Ortiz and Alberto have not commented on the situation publicly as of yet.

Although no details have been provided, it looks like the issue is with Ortiz and not Alberto since the win was taken away.

The December fight was Alberto’s first MMA fight since 2010 and Ortiz previously fought Chuck Liddell for Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy MMA promotion.

Ortiz dominated the fight by submitting Alberto with a rear-naked chokehold in the first round. The promotion later admitted that their first foray into pay-per-view did not do well. Ortiz is scheduled to fight at least one more time for Combate Americas as part of his multi-fight deal.
