WWE files new trademarks to block Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder from using them

As we noted a few days ago, Scott Dawson (David Harwood) and Dash Wilder (Daniel Wheeler) recently filed for trademarks for when they leave WWE in a couple of months.

In a very interesting move done several days after Dawson and Wilder’s filings, WWE has registered trademarks for “The Mechanics” and “No Flips Just Fists.”

Wilder and Dawson previously filed for “No Flips, Just Fists.” The difference between WWE’s filing and Dawson/Wilder’s filing is that “No Flips Just Flips” does not have a comma in WWE’s filing so it will be interesting to see what conflict arises here.

The Mechanics name is what Dawson and Wilder were called during their early days in NXT before they were renamed The Revival. The WWE filing says it’s for the following: “Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely, blogs, in the field of sports entertainment.”

The No Flips Just Flips filing by WWE says it’s for the following: “G & S: Clothing, namely, tops, shirts, jackets, sweatshirts, hoodies; outerwear, namely, coats; bottoms, pants, shorts, underwear, dresses, pajamas, lingerie, clothing ties, scarves, gloves, swimwear; Halloween and masquerade costumes; footwear, namely, shoes, sneakers, slippers, flip flops, boots; headwear, namely, hats, caps; wrist bands; bandanas.”

As noted above, these filings from WWE came several days after Dawson and Wilder applied for the following trademarks:

– Top Guys
– Say Yeah
– No Flips, Just Fists

Those trademark filings are for the following: “G & S: Hats; Hooded sweatshirts; Pants; Shirts” and “G & S: Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services, namely, live appearances by a professional wrestling and sports entertainment personality; Entertainment services, namely, personal appearances by a professional wrestling and sports entertainment personality; Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer; Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; Providing online interviews featuring professional wrestling and sports entertainment personality in the field of professional wrestling and sports entertainment for entertainment purposes.”

As previously noted here on WrestlingNews.co, The Revival have retained the services of the same trademark attorney that has filed trademarks for several people in All Elite Wrestling. WWE’s recent filings indicate that they are not going to make it easy for them to use certain trademarks outside of WWE.
