Daniel Bryan got emotional after his match with Drew Gulak at WWE Elimination Chamber

Last week, we exclusively reported here on WrestlingNews.co that Daniel Bryan has been gaining more creative influence backstage at SmackDown and it was his idea to work with Drew Gulak and Heath Slater in recent weeks.

Bryan and Gulak had an excellent match in the opener of the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view and it looks like we will be seeing more of Gulak on SmackDown in the coming weeks.

During a post-match interview for WWE.com, Bryan got emotional as he talked about the reason why he wanted to wrestle Gulak.

Bryan said, “As crazy as it sounds, I feel alive. This is what I love about this is that I don’t ever want to go through the motions. When I go out there and fight, I want to fight with my heart. I want to fight with blood and guts. That’s why I’ve wanted to fight Drew Gulak for years.”

He continued, “I was commentating the Cruiserweight Classic and Drew Gulak was in the tournament. I had seen him on Evolve and I had seen him on independent shows and this was my first time to see him live. I watched him and I said I wish I could get in the ring with that guy because that guy fights with blood and guts.”

Bryan then said that it was Gulak who went up to him to talk about improving Bryan’s game. Bryan said that now he knows that Gulak is much better than he ever thought he was and now he wants to see if Gulak can help him.
