CM Punk is one person who isn’t buying that The Undertaker has retired from pro wrestling.
Of course, Punk had a match against The Undertaker at WrestleMania 29 in 2013. This turned out to be the last match for Punk at WrestleMania as he departed from the company in 2014.
The final chapter of “Undertaker: Last Ride” aired on the WWE Network last month, which ended with Taker stating that he has no desire to step into the ring again.
This caused many to believe that this was his way of announcing his retirement. WWE even did a tribute show for him on a recent episode of SmackDown.
However, during an appearance on Good Show With Ben Ennis & JD Bunkis, Punk stated that he doesn’t think Taker is retired.
“I don’t think he’s retired, come on. That’s my reaction, there’s no way. This is a guy who can and most likely will, in my opinion, at least make an entrance every WrestleMania. You know what I mean? They just did the whole movie-match type thing I like to call it, as I liked to call it on Backstage on Fox. I just feel like that can add some longevity to his career, I don’t see him going anywhere.
He’s a guy who in recent years has gone away and popped back up so it’s just so unceremonious to have the documentary where every episode he retired and then unretired. Then at the end of it he said he retired again. It’s part of wrestling now. Terry Funk, Ric Flair, everybody retires and comes back. I think selfishly everybody wants to see him come back.”
Punk also talked about the creation of Fight Island, if being a pro wrestler or an MMA athlete is more punishing for the body and more.
