REPORT: WWE is looking into running SummerSlam outside of Florida with fans in attendance

Earlier this week, PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported about WWE looking into running SummerSlam on a boat or on the beach and Bryan Alvarez noted on Wrestling Observer Live that Vince McMahon wants to do something different because he doesn’t want the show to take place inside of the Performance Center.

WrestlingNews.co was told that McMahon has gotten tired of the way the shows look at the PC. One idea that has been floated is to run shows on top of WWE Headquarters.

WrestleVotes reported today that WWE has been looking into hosting SummerSlam in the northeast at an outdoor location with a limited amount of fans in attendance. As of now, there has been no interest from states. WrestlingNews.co has been reporting that McMahon has been hoping to welcome fans back to shows by September but with cases spiking in many parts of the country and with some evidence that we may be seeing spikes again in some parts of the northeast, it will be tough to get approval from states.

We are less than 4 weeks away from what WWE has dubbed “the biggest party of the summer” so a decision will need to come soon as they would need to arrange travel and lodging for talent. Of course, COVID-19 tests would need to be administered to wrestlers and staff so that can complicate things.

SummerSlam 2020 will be headlined by Drew McIntyre defending the WWE Championship against Randy Orton.
