Tag team match will kick off tonight’s WWE NXT episode

WWE had William Regal announce not only a new match for tonight’s episode of NXT but also the match that will kick off the show.

The NXT General Manager took to his official Twitter account this afternoon to announce that NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai will team up with Tegan Nox to take on Candice LeRae and Dakota Kai in a tag team match.

The four stars have been feuding as of late. This is the third new match to be announced today to further hype the broadcast. Regal made the announcement by writing the following:

“This evening’s episode of #WWENXT will feature action befitting the black and gold brand and I’m excited to announce the match that will kick off tonight’s show:

@WWENXT Women’s Champion @shirai_io will team with @TeganNoxWWE_ against @CandiceLeRae and @DakotaKai_WWE!”

WWE has loaded up the card for this show as the ratings war between NXT and Dynamite continues. It’s an important show as it marks the first week since the MLB has returned to play that both shows will go up against baseball competition. Here is the updated card:

Triple Threat Match (winner advances to vacant North American Title Ladder Match at TakeOver: 30):
Finn Balor vs. Dexter Lumis vs. Timothy Thatcher

Tag Team Match:
Io Shirai and Tegan Nox vs. Candice LeRae and Dakota Kai

Singles Match:
Shotzi Blackheart vs. Mercedes Martinez
