WWE delaying date & location announcement for next year’s Royal Rumble

WWE officials have decided to delay making the announcement regarding the date and location for next year’s Royal Rumble.

With WWE and the world still dealing with COVID-19 pandemic, future location plans for upcoming events have been halted.

WrestleVotes reported on Thursday that WWE was slated to announce the details for the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event in early August. However, that has changed.

“WWE had planned on announcing the 2021 Royal Rumble date and location in early August. I’ve been told that announcement is on hold as the details regarding the event are likely changing.”

WWE hasn’t been able to run any shows with actual fans in attendance since the pandemic started in the United States back in March. Instead, they’ve held shows at the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.

WWE was forced to move the original location for SummerSlam, which currently doesn’t have a location although WWE is making attempts to get an outdoor location booked. Originally, they were slated to hold it in Boston, but with the city not allowing large gatherings, the company had to change course.

There’s no word yet on when WWE will make an announcement regarding Royal Rumble, which takes place in January.
