WWE has picked up a former EVOLVE star and assigned them to the NXT brand.
Pwinsider.com reports that Leon Ruff has signed an NXT deal. It was noted that Ruff is “the first of several EVOLVE talents who were signed after WWE acquired that company.”
It should be noted that when news broke that WWE had bought EVOLVE, the contracts of stars with the promotion were not included as part of the deal when the company was sold.
Ruff joins the likes of Keith Lee, Johnny Gargano, Matt Riddle, Ricochet, Apollo Crews, Austin Theory, Drew Gulak, and Oney Lorcan who have worked in EVOLVE before joining WWE NXT.
He has appeared on WWE television before as he worked the December 4th 2019 episode of NXT when he and Adrian Alanis dropped a loss to The Forgotten Sons.
On the March 19th episode of Main Event, he lost to Aleister Black and did another job to Black on the March 23rd Raw episode. He did a job for Sheamus in SmackDown, but most recently, he has worked on 205 Live where he last competed on the July 21st episode that saw him lose to Drake Maverick.
Thus, he hasn’t won a match on WWE television up to this point.
