AEW tag team helped prepare Randy Orton for “Greatest Wrestling Match Ever”

It turns out that two AEW stars had a part in the latest singles match between Randy Orton and Edge.

This was “Greatest Wrestling Match Ever” at the WWE Backlash pay-per-view event in Orlando, Florida at the WWE Performance Center on the WWE Network that saw Orton go over.

WWE taped this match a week in advance to have the ability to edit out any botches and missed time spots. Edge suffered a torn triceps injury that resulted in him getting surgery.

Sean Ross Sapp passed along some news in a report on Fightful Select, which noted that FTR, formerly known as The Revival, stayed on good terms with Orton.

In an interview with the media outlet, Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler noted Orton actually flew to Asheville and worked with them on the match. It should be noted that Edge lives in Asheville as well. FTR said that “Orton wanted to sharpen up his technical wrestling.”

As noted, the tag team also worked with Edge while he was preparing for his return to in-ring action.
