MVP recently did an interview with Sports Illustrated where he talked about a wide range of topics including his working relationship with WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon.
The pro wrestling veteran has had two stints with the company, but based on his comments, MVP was on good terms with the company even when he wasn’t under contract with WWE.
During the interview, he was asked about the influence of McMahon on his work.
“That’s an interesting question. Vince is very demanding. I’ve always said this about Vince–he’s hard, but he’s fair, with me, for sure.”
He recalled how early on his first stint with WWE he was doing a storyline with Matt Hardy and McMahon pulled them to the side where he talked about how he wanted them to be very involved and participate in their angles. Since then, he has taken a more hands-on approach.
He noted that being able to learn from McMahon has made him able to those skills to other places and continue to grow.
“Coming back now, I understand what Vince wants and how he wants it. And Vince is a perfectionist. Good enough is not good enough for Vince. His influence has been huge. I’m a go-getter, and I want to be involved with the segments I’m in, and I want to make sure that I’m on the same page with the other talent so that your viewing experience on Monday Night Raw is the best that it can possibly can. Those are things I learned from Vince.”
MVP also talked about The Hurt Business, his new deal with the company, and more. Check out the full interview here.
