Velveteen Dream, real name Patrick Clark, is back with WWE and he is already being positioned near the top of the card as he is set to wrestle Finn Balor next Wednesday on NXT TV. Dream returned this week as part of a Triple Threat Match to determine would be next to move on to TakeOver: XXX to compete for the NXT Championship.
However, some people in the company are not happy to see him back and his return was a surprise to many who were at the tapings on Wednesday as the wrestlers found out just minutes before he walked out to the ring.
Fightful is reporting that there is “significant heat” behind-the-scenes on Dream for behavior issues. The issues are said to be things that would get other people fired and the belief is that he is getting preferential treatment.
WrestlingNews.co has heard stories over the years about Dream, dating back to when he was on Tough Enough so the stories of backstage heat are not new but things seem to be worse these days.
There’s more unhappiness now amongst fans and wrestlers because he was brought back after he faced multiple allegations of inappropriate conduct with minors. Again, we don’t know what the outcome was of WWE’s investigation or if authorities were involved. WWE has not commented on their reasoning for bringing him back.
At one point, there was a belief in the company that he was about to get released. That was before he was involved in a car accident.
