Backstage news on how AEW was able to book NWA Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa for All Out PPV

For those of you that missed AEW Dynamite on Saturday night, NWA Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa made her debut and she challenged AEW Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida for a match at All Out.

Up to this point, there has been no relationship between AEW and the NWA and it’s not clear if this is start of a long-term partnership or a one-off but Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Tony Khan reached out to Billy Corgan and an agreement was reached.

Meltzer said, “Tony Khan had the idea of Shida vs Thunder Rosa for whatever reason and he talked to Billy Corgan, and Billy Corgan was fine with it. That’s probably why they acknowledged that she’s the NWA Women’s World Champion.”

Shida vs. Rosa is scheduled for Saturday, September 5 at All Out on pay-per-view.
