Chris Jericho and Ricky Starks were on Busted Open Radio on Thursday to promote Saturday night’s AEW All Out pay-per-view.
You can listen to the entire show on Sirius XM channel 156. Here are some highlights from the show:
Starks talked about being offered an AEW contract: “I got a text from Cody asking if I wanted to come in and do the challenge. I go there and have the match with Cody thinking it’s a one off deal. I came home and I got offered a contract and I’m thinking, what happened? What changed? How did things change so quickly in such a short time period? I was so incredibly proud. I busted my ass for so long and it paid off in a way I could have never imagined. I only had $4 in my bank account and then I was wrestling Cody.”
Ricky Starks was asked if the younger talents are open to suggestions from the veteran talents in AEW: “I think there is some younger talent who are a bit apprehensive to go and ask. No one wants to be told this wasn’t right. They don’t want to hear the negative criticism sometimes. For the most part, I’ve seen vets go up to people and they say try this or that. The response has been super receptive and open. I think it’s just a matter of taking the time to teach some of the younger kids because they don’t know. They wouldn’t know. There’s people who sit them down and say I saw this from last week and maybe you should switch this up or tighten this up. I see a change immediately that night on Dynamite or Dark. I think as far as this group of people, they are open to that type of feedback because it’s important. But, I also think too that I f you can combine the younger style with the older philosophies, it makes for a great wrestler. I don’t get why people would be closed off to that.”
Chris Jericho gave his opinion of Orange Cassidy: “We make stars in AEW. Orange is a guy that when I first saw him and heard about him, I wasn’t happy about it. I thought it was a joke. I wasn’t impressed. Then when I pulled my head out of my rear end, I realized this guy is over. It doesn’t matter why. He is doing something different. He is unique. The people love him for it, so, what’s the problem? As I started watching him and studying him as a performer and understanding his gimmick, it was a no brainer for me and I wanted to do something with him.”
