Booker T on Eric Young winning the Impact World Title: “I feel like he is tailor made for a company like that”

The latest episode of the “Hall of Fame” podcast is up and Booker T has a lot to say about the wrestling news of the week.

Booker talks about Brock Lesnar being a free agent, The Rock announcing that he and his family tested positive for COVID-19, thoughts on Chris Jericho vs. Orange Cassidy, rumors about NXT moving to Tuesday night, the possibility of seeing Brock Lesnar vs. Jon Jones in UFC and he previews MJF vs. Jon Moxley AEW World Title match at All Out.

Booker also gave his thoughts on ex-WWE star Eric Young winning the Impact Wrestling World Championship this week.

Booker said, “New TNA World Heavyweight Champion, Eric Young.  Give Eric Young his props.  The brother has been down in the trenches for a long time just grinding.  Me personally, me and Eric Young, we were never bosom buddies or anything like that, but when I see a guy like him grinding and working his butt off, just trying to be a part of the team and then getting a pat on the back, the nod, and the company saying we are going to bless you, hey man, I’m all in with that.  To see Eric Young become the Impact World Champion, let me just say, big props and I’m happy for him.  I feel like he is tailor made for a company like that.  I’m not saying he couldn’t fit in at WWE as well, but the guy has a vast knowledge of the business.  He knows the game.  He’s one of the guys where if they want him to just be a player, he can be a player.  If they want him to play on the defense, he can be on defense.  You want me punting the ball, I will punt it.  He knows exactly what it takes to get to the next level.  For a lot of those young guys in TNA, they need a guy like Eric Young.  He is the guy to be one to sit under the learning tree because he’s a guy who has been all over the world.  He has seen the WWE machine to know what that’s like and how it works.  Guys, if you plan on going there, be prepared to do X, Y, and Z.  It’s totally different than any other system you are going to be a part of and to have a guy like Eric Young to reaffirm that for those young guys.  I tell you, when I was there, same thing.  I told all those guys if they ever thought about going to WWE better change their mindset.  They better be ready to go and perform.  There again, I told Bobby Roode to cut the mullet and go to work.  Samoa Joe, I said you have talent.  Go see what happens.  See how it works out for you.  You need someone like myself telling these young guys, hey man, this is what you’re getting ready to run in to and you better be prepared because preparation is the only luck you are going to have.”
