WWE not happy about Lana promoting an energy drink on her Instagram

Apparently, WWE took issue with Lana (CJ Perry) promoting an energy drink and, as Dave Meltzer put it, this was the straw that broke the camel’s back in regards to the decision to send out a letter to talent to tell them that they needed to back away from working with third parties.

There are several “Bang Energy” ads on Lana’s Instagram account, including one below from July 31st, another post on August 7, and another on August 26.

“The straw that broke the camel’s back was CJ Perry’s Bang Energy drink commercials,” Meltzer said on the Wrestling Observer forum.

It remains to be seen how this will all play out but there is no doubt that many wrestlers are unhappy about WWE trying to stop them from making money on social media platforms. As noted earlier, Vince McMahon sent out a letter to talent to let them know that they have 30 days to back away from working with third parties and if they don’t comply then they are subject to a fine, suspension or termination at the discretion of WWE.

Paige has already changed her Twitch account name to her real name. Politician Andrew Yang said this evening that he plans on taking action with the help of lawmakers against Vince McMahon and WWE for “corrupt labor practices” towards their independent contractors.
