AEW considered different stipulation for top match at tonight’s AEW All Out

AEW has been building to the third match between Chris Jericho and Orange Cassidy for the last few months.

With each wrestler holding a win over each other, the stipulation for the final encounter had to be something memorable.

Thus, the promotion came up with the idea for a Mimosa Mayhem Match at Saturday’s AEW All Out pay-per-view event in Jacksonville, Florida at Daily’s Place.

It turns out that the promotion considered having Jericho and Cassidy work a Last Man Standing Match, but plans changed with that stipulation being given to Matt Hardy vs. Sammy Guevara.

Dave Meltzer mentioned the stipulation change during today’s Wrestling Observer Radio episode while talking about how the belief was Mike Tyson would be Jericho’s original opponent before he announced his return to boxing.

“They definitely talked about a Last Man Standing Match between Jericho and Orange Cassidy, but instead they came up with the Mimosa idea with Jericho and Tony Khan. Then they moved the Last Man Standing Match to Matt Hardy and Sammy Guevara. That was kind of the genesis of how everything went.”
