In recent weeks, TNT’s coverage of the NBA playoffs has changed in the schedule of AEW Dynamite. Just last month, AEW aired on different nights such as Saturday and Thursday.
The past two weeks have seen Dynamite air in its normal time slot, but more changes are coming next week.
Dave Meltzer mentioned in today’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio and later confirmed by the schedule on TNT’s website that there will likely be two episodes of Dynamite that airs next week.
A one-hour show is scheduled to air after the NBA playoff game next Wednesday night. Including the game potentially going late and the post-game show, the special show is slated to air at 12:30 AM EST.
Here’s where it might get a little confusing. If the Los Angeles Lakers vs. Houston Rockets playoff series ends in six games then the two-hour new episode Dynamite will air next Wednesday in its usual time slot.
However, if the series goes to the seventh game then it will move Dynamite to next Thursday in the 8 PM EST time slot. We’ll know for sure about the schedule as game six is scheduled for Monday night.
Should the series not go to a seventh game then that the one-hour Dynamite special won’t air on Wednesday, but instead air on Tuesday, September 22nd at an unknown time.
AEW is taping the special today. It should be noted that the matches announced for next week will not be on the one-hour special, but rather kept for the two-hour regular episode.
