Planned AEW Dynamite match postponed due to COVID-19 concerns

AEW had to make some changes to next week’s episode of Dynamite, which is the second night of New Year’s Smash.

The show was supposed to feature Britt Baker going against Thunder Rosa. This would’ve been their first match against each other after feuding for the past few weeks.

During this past Wednesday’s show, it was announced that Baker would be hosting Cody Rhodes in The Waiting Room while Serena Deeb will be defending her NWA Women’s Championship against Tay Conti on the upcoming episode.

Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the originally planned match was postponed due to Rosa being exposed to somebody who has tested positive for COVID-19. The plan now is for the contest to happen once Rosa is allowed to attend the TV tapings again.

Other matches featured on the card include Darby Allin defending his TNT Championship against Brian Cage and Miro taking on Chuck Taylor.
