WWE has announced that there will be a gauntlet match tonight and the winner will face Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble.
The names announced for the match are Daniel Bryan, Shinsuke Nakamura, Sami Zayn, King Baron Corbin, and Rey Mysterio. This will be the main event of the show.
As we wrote about last month, there were plans for Daniel Bryan to face Reigns at the Rumble pay-per-view but Reigns is still involved in a feud with Kevin Owens. Owens is not listed as being part of tonight’s gauntlet so perhaps, the Reigns vs. Owens rematch won’t happen at the Rumble.
So far, no singles matches have been announced for the Rumble pay-per-view but, based on what happened in Raw, it looks like the other main event for the show will be Drew McIntyre defending the WWE Championship against Goldberg.
