By the end of tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown, the main event for WrestleMania should be locked in. As noted earlier this week, the plan is for Edge to challenge Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship.
Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar is on the table and it would have an interesting story with Paul Heyman being involved but the match is likely not happening this year.
Lesnar may not appear at WrestleMania at all because of the travel restrictions implemented. The same travel restrictions are also preventing John Cena for wrestling at Mania this year.
At one point, Cena was locked in for the show but logistically, he can’t appear on the show because he would have to quarantine when he arrives back in Canada. Lesnar would have to do the same.
Lesnar hasn’t appeared on WWE programming since WrestleMania 36. His talent contract quietly expired around that time and the company pulled his merchandise in August. It’s widely believed that he will be back with WWE but with the pandemic making things complicated, there is no date locked in.
