Even though John Cena has previously come out and stated that he would be missing this year’s WrestleMania, there are some who don’t think that’s true.
Most notably, Corey Graves questioned on the WWE After The Bell podcast whether Cena would really be missing the show as he doesn’t buy it.
While doing an interview with Forbes, the former WWE Champion stated once again that this decision to miss WrestleMania was out of his hands and any other year would be within his realm. The reason is due to him filming HBO’s “Peacemaker” series.
“If this were normal times, I would 100% be there. I’d find a way to contribute somehow. I’ve sat in the crowd as a fan. I’ll do whatever the event asks me to because it means that much to me, and WWE means that much to me, but I’m in Vancouver shooting Peacemaker for HBO Max.”
He brought filming the series and how important this gig is to him.
“Because of the quarantine law, if I were to fly to the states for Sunday on WrestleMania—which is totally possible—the complications arrive when I come back to Canada. Because then I would have to quarantine for 14 days and that puts production back more than two weeks, which costs a boatload of money, and that would be super, super, super selfish of me. Should things beyond my control normalize a bit and travel restrictions lift up, then sure, I’m in. But right now, it is logistically impossible.”
He added that he can’t do that to Warner Media or DC Comics or anyone involved in the project because it’s not fair.
Cena also talked in this interview about The Undertaker thinking today’s wrestlers are soft.
