WATCH: Venue that hosted two WrestleMania events demolished

On Wednesday, Atlantic City’s Trump Plaza was demolished after it had been closed since 2014. WWE Hall of Famer and former United States President Donald Trump had not been associated with it since 2009.

The venue hosted WrestleMania IV and V in 1988 and 1989.

“The way we put Trump Plaza and the city of Atlantic City on the map for the whole world was really incredible,” said Bernie Dillon, the events manager for the casino from 1984 to 1991. “Everyone from Hulk Hogan to Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, it was the whole gamut of personalities. One night before a Tyson fight I stopped dead in my tracks and looked about four rows in as the place was filling up, and there were two guys leaning in close and having a private conversation: Jack Nicholson and Warren Beatty.”

While the WrestleMania shows were held in nearby Historic Atlantic City Convention Hall , Trump Plaza was given the host-venue naming rights for the events as Trump rented out the venue as part of the casino to hold events such as wrestling and boxing.

WrestleMania IV featured a tournament to crown a new WWF Champion, which was won by Randy Savage, who beat Ted Dibiase in the finals. The event the following year saw Hulk Hogan beat Savage in the main event to win the title.
