Since WWE split up Chad Gable and Jason Jordan as American Alpha on the main roster, many fans have felt that the company doesn’t do enough with Gable on television.
This past March, AEW’s Dax Harwood indicated in a tweet that Gable would be available in May, which caused speculation about Gable’s contract status with WWE at the time. It’s now July and Gable has been used regularly on television in recent months in a new tag team partnership with Otis.
Wait, what’s all this #1 talk?! I know you’re not allowed to respond to me publicly for about 2 more months, but c’mon man! HE’S your #1?! https://t.co/8Hv8kBp3AG

Fightful Select reports that “tweet was actually in jest, and Gable’s contract with WWE still has plenty of time left on it.” The report added that they were told by several AEW wrestlers that if Gable became available they’d push heavily to get him in the company.
Gable signed with WWE in 2013 and found success with Jordan in NXT where they held the Tag Team Titles. After being split from Jordan, he was booked as Shorty G, a comedy character. He stopped portraying the character last year.
