Reason why Vince McMahon recently called up WWE NXT stars to the main roster

Last week’s episode of WWE SmackDown saw Shotzi Blackheart and Tegan Nox make their main roster debut as they scored a non-title win over WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Natalya and Tamina Snuka.

On that same show, it was announced Toni Storm will be making her blue brand debut soon. On Thursday it was reported that Mandy Rose was sent from Raw to NXT while Aliyah is going from NXT to Raw as part of a trade.

Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Vince McMahon decided to call up these NXT stars after seeing recent advance ticket sales for the return of live event touring.

The WWE Chairman and CEO looked at the situation and thought there was no one new, fresh, or exciting on the main roster. The decision to bring up new stars from NXT was made with the idea these stars will be pushed strong right out of the gate. Thus, that’s the reason why Shotzi and Nox got a win over the champions.

It’s been previously reported that WWE has been looking to replenish the main roster and they’ve been scouting NXT talent. Vince McMahon went to the Performance Center a few weeks ago to have a meeting about this.

Also, various NXT stars such as Bronson Reed and NXT Champion Karrion Kross have worked several dark matches at main roster TV events in recent weeks. The belief is more NXT stars will be called up when the Draft takes place.
