After the WWE Money In The Bank broadcast went off the air, John Cena grabbed the microphone so he could address the fans.
Cena jokingly talked about the positive reaction he got after getting jeers for so many years. Cena said this is not a “one night only” think and this is the “first night.”
He thanked the WWE Superstars for putting their bodies on the line and he said he misses the WWE fans and he wanted to thank them as well.
As noted earlier, Cena made his return after Roman Reigns retained his Universal Championship against Edge. Cena stood face to face with Reigns as the show closed. This is the set up for Cena vs. Reigns at SummerSlam. The original plan was for Cena to return this past Friday at SmackDown but it was later decided to save him for the big pop at the pay-per-view.
It’s expected that Cena will be appearing on SmackDown episodes to build the match for SummerSlam and then Cena will be leaving to film a movie at the end of August. The other big SummerSlam match set up tonight is Edge vs. Seth Rollins. The big match for Bobby Lashley’s WWE Championship will be set up tomorrow night on Raw.
