WWE will be airing a taped episode of NXT tonight on Syfy.
WWE taped the show last week from Orlando, Florida at the Capitol Wrestling Center. The reason for this is due to NBC’s coverage of the Olympics that is airing on all NBC Universal channels including the USA Network.
The next live NXT episode will air on August 10. You can read the full spoilers here:
– Pete Dunne and Oney Lorcan defeated Timothy Thatcher and Tommaso Ciampa. Post-match, Ridge Holland returned from injury to help Dunne and Lorcan destroy Thatcher and Ciampa.
– Samoa Joe offered his resignation as an NXT authority figure to NXT General Manager William Regal as a way for him to fight NXT Champion Karrion Kross at Takeover 36. Regal wanted to fire Kross for last week’s attack, but he agreed to Joe’s deal and signed the paperwork to make it official. This sets up Joe vs. Kross for the title at Takeover 36 on Sunday, August 22.
– NXT Breakout Tournament, First Round: Carmelo Hayes defeated Josh Briggs.
– NXT Women’s Champion Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai came out for a promo. They talked about how dominant the champ has been as of late and as long as Kai has her back, there’s no one that can take the title. Kai turned on her and laid her out from behind with a kick.
– Kayden Carter and Kacy Catanzaro defeated Jessi Kamea and Franky Monet.
– Imperium’s Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner defeated Hit Row’s “Top Dolla” AJ Francis and Ashante “Thee” Adonis when Legado del Fantasma distracted Hit Row.
– Adam Cole defeated Bronson Reed. Post-match, Kyle O’Reilly attacked Cole with a steel chair.
