John Cena vs. Roman Reigns is set for WWE SummerSlam

The second hour of this week’s episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown kicked off with a SummerSlam contract signing between Finn Balor and Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

Reigns referenced Cena’s promo and insinuated that Cena thinks that Balor is a lesser man. Reigns said that Balor is worthy to challenge for the Universal Championship and worthy “to catch this beat down at SummerSlam.”

Reigns then warned Balor that he would get smashed and get sent back to NXT. Balor said that it would be a privilege to return to NXT as the Universal Champion but before he could sign the contract, he was attacked by Baron Corbin and Corbin was about to sign the contract but Cena ran out and tossed Corbin out of the ring.

Cena then signed the contract so the main event is set for SummerSlam.

After the commercial break, Paul Heyman disputed what was on the contract but Mandy Rose and Adam Pearce confirmed that it will be Reigns vs. Cena at SummerSlam.

As of this writing, the following matches have been officially announced for SummerSlam:

WWE Universal Championship
Roman Reigns (Champion) vs. John Cena

WWE Raw Women’s Championship – Triple Threat Match
Nikki A.S.H. (Champion) vs. Rhea Ripley vs. Charlotte Flair
