One of the most underrated wrestlers in today’s wrestling scene is about to be free from his WWE non-compete.
The former Buddy Murphy has approximately three weeks left before he can sign with another wrestling company and he seems to be teasing that he will soon be released from “prison” soon. The teaser is similar to Jon Moxley’s teaser posted shortly before he made his AEW debut.
It was reported by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there is interest in Murphy from both AEW and Impact Wrestling. Murphy has many friends in all wrestling companies and AEW’s Brian Cage tweeted in June about possibly wrestling him sometime in the near future.
Was trying to be semi discrete or use low key names……come on, I'm talking about my "buddy"

Last month, Murphy teased resuming his WWE feud with Malakai Black in AEW:
@TommyEnd – Congrats!…. But don’t forget about me! How’s the eye 👁

Murphy is scheduled to wrestle for Battleground Championship Wrestling on September 18 at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia. Here is the teaser where he is shown in a prison uniform:

Something to note is that in Black’s pre-AEW debut teaser, there was a reference to Matthew being in prison. Murphy’s real name is Matthew Adams.
