WWE SmackDown 8/20/21 viewership up, key demo holds for SummerSlam go-home show

The latest edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown saw its ratings mixed.

Friday’s show averaged 2.102 million viewers on FOX, which is up from last week’s show that did 2.084 million viewers, according to Brandon Thurston of WrestleNomics.

In the all-important 18-49 demographic, the show did a 0.57 rating, down from the 0.58 rating last week.

This was the go-home edition for SummerSlam for SmackDown. Here’s the breakdown in each demo for the show:

Viewers 18-49 – 738,000
Female viewers 18-49 – 318,000
Male viewers 18-49 – 421,000
Viewers 18-34 – 218,000
Female viewers 18-34 – 81,000
Male viewers 18-34 – 137,000
Viewers 35-49 – 521,000
Viewers 50+ – 1.364 million

The episode featured Roman Reigns and John Cena making their final statements heading into SummerSlam, Edge made an appearance to respond to Seth Rollins’ promo from last week, Rey Mysterio vs. Jey Uso, and more.
