New NWA World Heavyweight Champion Trevor Murdoch appeared on Busted Open Radio this week to talk about his big win over Nick Aldis at NWA 73.
Murdoch talking about being face to face with Ric Flair after winning the NWA Title from Nick Aldis:
“Well first, I didn’t even expect Ric to come out like that. You try to be a man in this business, and I was doing my best to try and not cry to be absolutely honest with you. Then when I saw Ric there, I was fighting back tears. One of the things I remember is I was emotional, and Ric said, ‘You are the champion.’
I don’t know if you looked at the tape. I popped my head up. That kind of woke me up a little bit out of what was going on in the haze, that I finally did this, and I’m standing in front of the greatest NWA World Champion in the Chase. I couldn’t believe it. There are bits and pieces that I actually have to go back and watch because it was all just a whirlwind of emotions.”
