Kevin Owens’ WWE contract is going to expire a lot sooner than we thought

As noted earlier, Kevin Owens teased on Twitter that he could be on his way out of WWE and we could see a reunion with The Young Bucks, Adam Cole, and others in AEW.

Fightful is reporting that Owens’ WWE deal is up in January. That is much sooner than the 5-year extension he said that he signed when he did an interview in 2018.

Fightful added that WWE restructured several contracts during the pandemic and Owens’ deal was changed and is now set to expire in January 2022. There is no word on why his deal was shortened.

Obviously, Owens would garner interest from AEW if he opts not to sign a new WWE deal. It is notable that he has not signed a new deal by now because WWE usually tries to lock wrestlers in several months before their contracts are up.

This news certainly gives more context to Owens’ recent social media activity. For those of you that missed it, click here to see the deleted tweet that hints at Owens going to AEW.
