Tommaso Ciampa has been a top star for the WWE NXT brand and even when the company decided to rebrand it, they went back to the veteran to be its NXT Champion.
Ciampa won the title for a second time on September 14th, the first episode of the NXT 2.0 era, in a fatal 4-way match featuring LA Knight, Pete Dunne, and Von Wagner. Ciampa later defended it against Bron Breakker at the Halloween Havoc special edition of NXT.
Ciampa has surpassed 100 days as champion as he has held it for 110 days, which is longer than previous champion Samoa Joe, who had to vacate it just 21 days after winning it due to him not being medically cleared.
Ciampa’s first reign as champion lasted 238 days. His next title defense comes against Breakker once again on Tuesday’s New Year’s Evil edition of NXT TV.
